5 Ways to Wear a Cropped Jacket

During the week, my copy of Cotton Time magazine arrived featuring the zero waste short sleeved jacket (see last week’s post). It’s a beautiful magazine, full of craft, crochet, sewing and bags, and those famous easy-to-follow instructions the Japanese are so good at.

Here it is in the magazine:

I’ve put together a couple of outfits with the jacket.

1. Over a vintage dress

Dress is Vogue 2669 sewn in a vintage repro quilting cotton, hat is the low-waste sunhat pattern.

If you find wearing a cropped jacket cuts you in half visually, try it with a one-piece garment underneath, such as a dress, pinafore or even a jumpsuit. Anything without a definite waist gives a cleaner, uninterrupted line.

2. Layered with a pinafore

Another one-piece underneath, this time the Smith pinafore. The hat is the low waste sunhat.

3. With jeans, t-shirt and bum bag

Is there anything that doesn’t look good with jeans?

This is a zero waste quadfecta: much-worn zero waste jeans, the jacket, Louvre beret and zw bum bag.

4. Romantic dressing

With skivvy, Bryer skirt (early sample) and flowers.

5. High waisted or cummerbund

You’ll need to use your imagination, as I don’t own either a high waisted garment or a cummerbund. A white bed sheet is standing in for high waisted sailors trousers, the sort I imagine one would wear on a cruise. Anyway, the idea is that it stops a gap between jacket and trousers.

Many thanks to Mirai Pattern and Cotton Time for this opportunity.

Cheers!
