Publishing Day! A Year of Zero Waste Sewing

Today is publishing day for A Year of Zero Waste Sewing, a book I started two years ago and experimentally published in instalments as zines.

It’s now a proper book. It explores zero waste patterncutting concepts, making clothes for longevity, my own opinionated thoughts on various sewing topics, and stories from zero waste designers.

Fashion with less waste. Liz Haywood presents an eclectic collection of zero waste patterncutting techniques, ideas for garment longevity, mythbusting and stories from zero waste designers. Discover innovative strategies for making zero waste patterns and reducing waste within a bigger picture of responsible fashion. Step-by-step instructions for five projects are included: a jacket, satchel, dress and two tops.

Here’s a flip-through:

I’ve already had one critic’s review! Mr H looked through it and commented Gee, this is a power-packed little book!

If you live in Australia, you can order a copy direct from me here. I will personally sign and wrap your copy and Mr H will take it to the post office. The book is still officially “pre-order” as the books have not yet arrived from the printers but they’re expected very soon. The price is AU$50 and $10.50 for postage.

For the rest of the world, sometime towards the mid-to-end of March you should be able to order it in your own country via online booksellers or from your local bookshop (the distributor is Ingram).

The zines, of which this book is composed, remain available (here). January is free and can be downloaded here.

Many thanks to all who’ve followed this project for the past two years. It’s been a joy to write a book in this way, and a very positive experience.

Cheers! Liz
