New Pattern: Humpty Dumpty

Hi Everyone, I have a new pattern. It’s a zero waste Humpty Dumpty.

This pattern was my workshop project for Making Zen earlier this year. It’s now got a bunch of extras.

The Humpty pattern is in my shop now. Please enjoy 25% off for the next month.

Humpty stands at 23.5cm/9″ tall (he’s unable to sit on a wall as his legs don’t bend) and has the character of a vintage handmade toy.

The pattern pieces fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.

It’s a fun pattern to make, and would be suitable for a beginner. It can be sewn by machine or by hand. The face can be drawn on with a felt-tipped pen rather than embroidered, if embroidery isn’t your thing.

Along with the original Humpty Dumpty, there are now three other sizes.

Mini Humpty stands 15cm/6″ tall, and has a loop to hang off a bag. Mini Humpty is quick to sew. For this sample, I cut the front and back in different fabrics, and then swapped them around so I had an egg-coloured head and spotty clothes.

Midi Humpty, made here in velveteen, stands 34cm/13.5″ tall, about the size of an average teddy bear.

Big Humpty, which I love, is 51cm/20″ tall. He’s made from wool coating, and is cushion-sized.

There’s also a different face, Tweedledum or Tweedledee.

The embroidery is based on Tenniel’s illustrations for Alice in Wonderland, which are now in public domain.

I think this would make a fun present for a literary friend, maybe a pair of them mounted on bookends, giving each other the side eye.

The pattern has an accompanying YouTube sew-a-long demonstrating the embroidery for the face, all the sewing steps, and some zero waste design discussion.

Aussie residents, the Humpty files are now included with the Billy DIY kit, which also has 25% off.

Cheers!
