I’m doing Me-Made-May 2019

Hi Everyone, it’s six days into Me-Made-May 2019.
Here’s my pledge:
“I endeavour to wear at least two me-made items each day (a top and a bottom) during May. As well, I will make one new garment, alter one so I’ll wear it more often, and finish a UFO.”
To tell you the truth, I’m finding it a bit hard. Why? A few reasons…
On the first day of May, the weather turned cool and it actually rained (we’re in a drought). Hadn’t really switched my mind into cool weather clothes and sort of feel a little under-prepared. A pre-May wardrobe sort out would have been a good idea.
I’m also at home, sewing and writing, for a fair bit of the week, seen by nobody except my family, the chooks, and an occasional door knocking Jehovah’s Witness, so I feel less inclined to make an effort clothes-wise. I tend to wear the same clothes all week (not counting undies). While this works well for me, I need to try and challenge myself since that’s what Me-Made-May is all about.
On further reflection, it’s 8 years since we moved to the country with only one or two visits per annum to fabric shops. When me-mades wear out they’re replaced with thrift shop clothes or not at all. I still have plenty to wear, but a lower % of me-mades than I thought.
Here’s the week of me-mades:

Me-made hat, cardi and trousers. Not shown: me-made knickers. Actually I wear me-made knickers everyday. Never been more comfortable!

Weather report: chilly yet dry.
Me-made hat, scarf, jacket from a Burda mag and corduroy trousers.

Did I mention that rubber boots look great with any outfit, in a country setting?
Me-made scarf and skirt.

Me-made shirt and skirt.

Sitting here waiting for my sewing class to arrive…might as well take the daily photo!
Me-made skirt.
Cheers!
love the day 5 me-made skirt!
It’s my favourite 🙂
I don’t sew, but your blog continues to absorb me. Love ‘Me-made’ even if I can only me-make a scarf or two 😉
Cheers Nan! Your scarves are beautiful.
