Tutorial: Zero Waste Inseam Pockets

Easy zero waste inseam pockets can be yours!

The pattern for these is in the (free) January instalment of A Year of Zero Waste Sewing. It was part of an idea for making a pocket matrix – a rectangular shape containing all the pocket pieces nested together, which can be moved around the fabric to the best position, or cut in an entirely different fabric.

Unfortunately there wasn’t space for sewing instructions, but I’ve since written some and here they are:

The same pattern piece (maybe with altered proportions) can be used in different ways:

You could also use it for a pocket bag for welt pockets.

    Not quite zero waste but I’ve made an apron from one leg of a pair of jeans, som hi viz from my daughter’s mine site clothes & bits from my scraps collection.
