Two for Twenty-two
It’s our 22nd wedding anniversary this week, so I thought I’d try on my me-made wedding dress.
I last tried it on in 2017, 2019 and 2020 (take a look at these if you like looking at wedding photos).
To be honest, I was doubtful whether the dress would fit this year, but I managed to get the zip done up with some strong tummy-sucking in. It’s pretty tight around the middle!
I’d forgotten just how beautiful this fabric is – it’s cream silk with little gold flowers woven into it. It looked dull in the bedroom when I put it on, but as soon as I stepped outside into the sunshine it looked rich and opulent.
Here we are 22 years ago, signing the registry after the ceremony. Then we partied like it was 1999!
Here’s to another 22 years 🙂
Anniversary Cheers!
PS – For those in non-cricket countries, “2 for 22” is a cricket joke; it’s pronounced chew for tchwenty-chew by beloved commentator Richie Benaud. Although it’s not very amusing now that I’m explaining it.
Happy Anniversary! Gosh that photo of signing the register takes me back!
Thanks Helen!
The design of the dress is so beautiful and it must have been unusual in the 1990s. I remember lots of strapless dresses at that time.
Ha yes – I was an island of modesty in a sea of strapless!
What a great day… and a great night. I remember quite a few at our table were particularly pleased with the wine choices. And such a beautiful dress. But you had had a few great practice goes in the lead up to this dress.
Thanks Juliet 🙂
Aw – lovely photos! Fortunately I live in a cricket country and am married to a big cricket fan. I now understand some of the game after 27 years of marriage.
My wedding dress neckline was very similar (we are of a similar era obviously- and have excellent taste).
Thanks Wendy. I notice our taste in wedding dress necklines is shared with Princess Margaret and the Sound of Music movie 🙂
So lovely!
Thanks Barbie 🙂
Happy anniversary and such a beautiful dress. It is timeless in its design. I have my self-made wedding dress around here somewhere too. Take care and here’s to many more happy years!
Thanks Terri 🙂
Happy anniversary, Liz! You’ve got your dress, but where is your husband’s tux?
Thanks Mary 🙂 He hired his, as most men did then.
You look so cute on your wedding day! And congratulations on still being able to fit into the dress, especially during Covid times. A beautiful garment x
Thanks Donna, we thought we both scrubbed up well on the day 🙂
