I wanna be a cowl girl

Last week’s festive season batik cowl neck dress has been an absolute winner!  I’ve worn it twice already.  Did you like the cowl neck?  It’s a shallow cowl, the sort where you don’t have to press your hand to your chest when bending over to avoid displaying everything.

It’s an easy bit of patternmaking if you already have a plain fitted dress or top.

Before you begin, make sure the shoulder width is the width you want.

Also, note that the cowl’s facing doesn’t have interfacing (otherwise it would be too stiff).

Wow! how easy does that look. I will have to try it out – I like a cowl neck, but the ones I have had from commercial patterns have always been too droopy.

All the best with it, Val. BTW, it’s also easy to wear because you don’t need a necklace to fill in the neckline.

    Love the cowl
Can we learn how to sew this at a future sewing class?

Thanks Rae. Yes, I thought this would be a good sewing class project too. Already working on it now for next year.
