Holiday projects

Holiday projects

It’s that exciting/busy/festive/reflective time of the year again, where we either wind down and relax or just get busier!

The Craft of Clothes Blog will be on holidays until the end of January.  I thank you all very much for reading, and many thanks to those who commented.

While the blog’s on holidays (I know, that sounds like it has a passport and travels, or owns a beach shack getaway), I have some sewing projects planned……

The first one I ticked off on the weekend.  Yes, it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something to make a list with a completed project on it.  It was swimwear for my girls – they’re doing Vacswim this week.  I got blue and green hologram-y lycra from Spotlight and ran up some rash top and leggings-style swimwear.  In Australia, children (and adults) are often more covered up to swim outdoors, for sun protection.  They liked them, although they declined my offer of matching bathing caps.

Second project: during January, I’m offering a 3-hour backpack workshop, on two different dates: Wednesday 9th January, 9am-noon, and Saturday 19th January, 1-4pm.  The backpack is made from old denim jeans.  If you’re in South Australia’s Clare Valley area, book in for a creative holiday activity.  High school students and children over 10 are welcome.

The last project is to attempt some zero waste jeans, without compromising fit or appearance.  I’ve got some denim to use and an existing pattern to tweak.  I’ll be reporting back next year on my success (or unsuccess).

Wishing you a fun, happy and thoughtful Christmas!

Cheers!

Thanks Sam! We seem to get more and more covered up each year.
