A New Challenge for Me-Made-May
“I, Liz Haywood of www.lizhaywood.com.au and @lizhaywood3754, sign up as a participant in Me-Made-May ’18. I endeavour to wear a me-made top and bottom or dress everyday for the month of May. I will try to wear me-made clothes I don’t wear very often. I will also begin a quest for a great trousers pattern, with a flattering fit and fabulous pockets.”
Yes, I’ve signed up for my second Me-Made-May. Me-Made-May is a challenge designed to encourage people who make garments for themselves to wear and love them more. It is meant to be challenging but also fun! You can read more about it here and sign up if you want to.
Last year I had a big clean out of my clothes and shoes before May began. I selected a “clothing capsule” each week and mix-and-matched from it each day. You can read about week 1 and the big clean out here. Week 2 where I got into it, week 3 which included some pajama days and a suit I hadn’t worn in a decade, week 4 featuring some of my favourite clothes, and the final analysis where I summed up and decided if I fulfilled the challenge.
As for the trousers quest I will embark on this May, I looked at the photos I took of last year’s Me-Made-May (I only have two pairs of me-made trousers, both from the same pattern, both corduroy) and decided that the lower waistline does nothing for me. I will try a trouser style with a higher waistline and hopefully some interesting yet functional pockets.
During May I’ll write about Me-Made-May each week. This year I’m on Instagram too.
Cheers!
I don’t have enough me made clothes yet!
You’re getting there though!
My Autumn/winter wardrobe is a mess unless I just want to work around the house all the time, so….this could be an opportunity to assess and redress (re-dress?). Val
